Booking accounting types
Consultants who are not fully booked on revenue-related work are often given internal tasks, such as an internal project, administrative work or a certification. Those bookings are real planned work, but a resource manager may reassign the person when revenue-related demand appears. On this page you decide which booking types count against availability when a revenue-related availability option is selected.
The page is available in the ‘Administration’ menu item under ‘Resource management’ and ‘Booking accounting types’.
Note: The page is only shown when the ‘Bench management’ client setting and the resource management module are switched on, and only to users with the permission ‘Administer data fields’.
Marking a type as revenue related
The table lists every booking accounting type your company uses, in the order they appear in the booking form. Clear the Revenue related checkbox for the types that describe internal work that does not generate revenue.
A booking that is not revenue related stays visible in the Resource Plan. When Include non-revenue bookings in totals is switched off, it no longer reduces the availability used in that view and in its Excel exports. Global search offers the same calculation through its Revenue related availability toggle. Outside those explicitly selected modes, the booking continues to reduce availability.
Out of the four types decídalo ships with, Billable and Presales are revenue related and Internal project and Administrative are not, which matches how most companies use them. Adjust the rules to match your own accounting types.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Accounting type | The name of the booking accounting type. The first row, None, covers bookings that have no accounting type at all. |
| Revenue related | Whether bookings of this type reduce availability when the revenue-related calculation is selected. A type you add later is revenue related until you say otherwise. |
| Active | Whether the type can still be selected on new bookings. Clear it to retire a type; it remains listed here, because its rule still applies to the bookings that already carry it. Not available for the None row, nor for the last type still active — the booking form needs one option left to offer. |
Note: Changing a rule applies to existing bookings as well as new ones. The revenue-related figures are recalculated when loaded, so no backfill is needed.
Note: The ‘Bench management’ client setting enables these options. It does not automatically change availability in other features. Switching it off makes all bookings count again in the bench views, without losing the rules you configured.
What the change affects, and what it does not
Revenue-related availability and total utilization use different booking totals:
- Revenue-related availability answers can this person take on new revenue-related work? It ignores bookings that are not revenue related only when the corresponding option is selected in the Resource Plan or global search.
- Ordinary availability continues to count non-revenue bookings. This applies to resource-request candidate search, booking dialogs and the internal marketplace. The Excel exports of the Resource Plan follow that page's toggle.
- Utilization answers what is this person working on? It keeps counting every booking. The Team Timeline page and the team utilization reports are unaffected by this page.
Note: If your company feeds availability into decídalo from an external system, profile search shows and filters on that system's figures, which do not follow this page.
Note: The rule is a property of the accounting type, not of the individual booking. There is no way to make a single booking of a type that is not revenue related block availability.
